MACOMB TOWNSHIP — Construction continues at the site of Macomb Township’s newest senior living community.

On April 25, people were invited to the grand opening of an information center to learn more about Oakleigh of Macomb Assisted Living and Memory Care.

“I think it’s going to make Macomb Township as a leader in a senior living type of tradition,” Macomb Township Trustee and Planning Commissioner Roger Krzeminski said. “It seems to be a very nice place.”

The community is located at 49880 Hayes Road, north of Randazzo Fresh Market, and is expected to open in November.

The facility will create about 50 new jobs.

“Our information center is going to be our location for folks while we’re under construction to come in and get more information on senior living care options,” Oakleigh of Macomb Community Relations Director Kelly Brent said.

Floor plans, building renderings, design boards and community finishes are available for review at the information center.

The information center is located south of the site, on Randazzo’s property and is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday by appointment.

Once open, the community will offer upscale senior living with an active community calendar and personalized support options for those who prefer or require a higher level of care.

It offers 55 private apartments in assisted living and 40 private apartments in a memory care neighborhood.

“The assisted living apartments are studio, one- and two-bedroom,” Brent said. “In memory care, we’re offering the opportunity for private suites and private suites with shared bathrooms.”

She added the community is targeted for individuals 60 and older looking for an active personalized care service.

“Senior living centers have changed the way they do business now from years ago,” Krzeminski said. “It seems to be more friendly and taking the time for people to interact with one another.”

The community is managed by Homestead Management Group, a senior living management company based in Northville.

“We were looking to build in community-type areas where we can bring something for seniors while living in that hometown,” Brent said.

Because it is private, the licensing is done only through the state of Michigan.

Brent said amenities include weekly housekeeping, on-site restaurant with made-to-order dining, a concierge service and a wellness program.

“The most exciting part of the development is bringing something to the Macomb Township area with a personalized approach to folks that still want to stay in their hometowns,” Brent said.
