WARREN — Police believe the man who displayed a handgun and took cash from a register at the Dollar Tree store at 11 Mile and Schoenherr roads on Jan. 22 may have also committed a robbery at a 7-Eleven on 12 Mile Road early the next morning.

Lt. Dave Kriss of the Warren Police Department said the suspect in the Dollar Tree robbery was described as 25-30 years old, Black, 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet tall and 160-180 pounds. The man reportedly approached a register with various snacks and a drink and announced the robbery as an employee was bagging the items.

“The suspect presented a black handgun from his waistband and demanded that the victim empty the register,” Kriss said.

The man then reportedly left the store. No suspect vehicle was seen.

Warren police were later sent to the 7-Eleven at 12 Mile and Schoenherr, a mile away from the Dollar Tree, after a robbery was reported at 4:15 a.m. on Jan. 23.

Kriss said the suspect in that robbery, described as 20-30 years old, Black, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall and 150 pounds, allegedly entered the store with a black handgun and demanded money and cigarettes before he fled north on foot.

A Warren police K-9 team was dispatched to track the suspect, but was unsuccessful, Kriss said. Again, no suspect vehicle was seen.

Anyone with information about either robbery or the suspect or suspects involved can reach Warren detectives at (586) 574-4810.
