Pedestrian dies after being struck by vehicle in Eastpointe

EASTPOINTE — A man in his 50s was pronounced dead after being hit by a car in Eastpointe July 12.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:35 p.m. near the intersection of Gratiot Avenue and Chestnut Avenue. Police and fire officials said that upon arrival, first responders found the man lying in the road, having been struck by a vehicle. The man was later pronounced deceased, according to police. 

The driver of the motor vehicle involved in the crash was identified and was cooperative with investigators. Eastpointe Department of Public Safety officers said that alcohol, drugs and reckless driving were not factors in the crash.
