Eleven-year-old boy injured in bike crash

ROCHESTER HILLS — An 11-year-old Rochester Hills boy was injured in a 4:47 p.m. Sept. 1 car/bicycle crash near the intersection of Avon and Livernois roads, a police report states.

The boy was riding his bicycle across Avon Road within the crosswalk and did not yield to oncoming traffic, the report states. A 2015 Chrysler 200 driven by a 61-year-old Rochester Hills man struck the boy.

The boy was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. He was transported to Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak.  At press time, he was listed in stable condition.

The driver of the Chrysler and his passenger were not injured, the report states, and alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
