EASTPOINTE — Eastpointe police officers responded to an argument that ended in gunshots at a local home Aug. 1.

Police said they arrived at a house in the 23000 block of Piper Avenue at approximately 6 a.m. in response to a report of several female suspects fighting in and around the home. While en route, police had been informed that shots had been fired. According to officers, the suspects fled in a silver Chevy Trailblazer prior to the police’s arrival.

“The investigation revealed that two females, believed to be in their 20s, fought in front of the Piper address while the rest of the spectators watched,” the Eastpointe Department of Public Safety posted on Facebook. “The fight was broken up by a male. It is unknown at this time what initiated the altercation. Once the fight ended, one male and three females entered the listed vehicle and fled. Moments later, they returned and opened fire at the residence. Five spent .45 caliber rounds were recovered. There were no injuries.”

Eastpointe detectives said that, as of Aug. 5, they were still looking into the matter. Anyone who witnessed the event or who has any additional information is asked to contact police at (586) 445-5100, ext. 1027.
