MACOMB COUNTY — After being requested to leave a local bistro, a suspect returned later, firing a couple of shots from a shotgun.

At approximately 2:20 a.m. June 15, Macomb County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to The HUB Sports Bistro, located on the southeast corner of 21 Mile and Garfield roads, on a report of shots fired.

“A male who had been told to leave the establishment earlier in the evening returned and had fired two shots; one at the rear door as a staff member was exiting and a second at a vehicle within the parking lot,” a Sheriff’s Office press release states.

The 21-year-old Macomb County resident, whom police identified as Charles Alam, was reportedly within the establishment earlier and security requested him to leave. It is reported that that man allegedly threatened to “shoot up” the building after he was escorted out of the bar by security.

A short time later, Alam allegedly returned in a red Honda and can reportedly be seen on security footage firing one shot from a shotgun at the building’s rear door area.

Police say a staff member had been exiting the rear door at this time and was pulled back into the bar by staff.

“A gun shot was heard just as the door was shut and a bullet was located within the door,” the release states.

No staff members were injured. Alam allegedly drove off and returned minutes later, firing a second shot and striking a patron’s silver Cadillac within the lot. The second shot was also caught on security footage.

Deputies gathered information while on scene that led to a traffic stop of a white Dodge Challenger near 21 Mile and Garfield roads.

Police say the driver, who was taken into custody, was found to be in possession of a weapon and in violation of concealed carry laws. Police said that man provided the identity of Alam.

“Deputies traveled to the suspect’s residence and located a spent shell casing outside of the vehicle located at the residence,” the release indicates. “Deputies were able to make contact with the suspect and he surrendered peacefully.”

Alam matched the description of the suspect and a search warrant was executed on the residence. A loaded shotgun was reportedly located, as was the clothing he had allegedly been wearing while within the establishment.

Alam was charged June 17 with two felony counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, four counts of felony firearm weapons, discharging a firearm from a vehicle, discharging a firearm in or at a building, and malicious destruction of personal property.

He was arraigned in the 41-A Shelby Township District Court and was given a $250,000 bond. He is scheduled to return to court June 30.

At press time, no attorney information was available for Alam.
