ROSEVILLE/ST. CLAIR SHORES — The Archdiocese of Detroit will hold its Mercy In Action Day Oct. 14, and one local “family” of Catholic churches is participating.

FARMINGTON HILLS — Residents recently had a chance to have some fun and learn about history at the same time at the Heritage Celebration, which has become a tradition in Farmington Hills.

METRO DETROIT — On Oct. 4, the American Red Cross issued a news release stating there is a national blood shortage, and donors are urgently needed.

MADISON HEIGHTS — A local woman is thanking the stranger who rushed to her husband’s aid after the 81-year-old man got in a car accident that left him hospitalized with a brain injury from which he’s still recovering.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — On Sept. 14, Shelby Township Police Lt. Jeffrey Bellomo graduated as a member of the 287th session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

WARREN/DETROIT — Four women who made a strong impact, especially on Mexican American culture, are being remembered this year during the Detroit Institute of Arts’ Day of the Dead exhibit.

FRASER — Fraser is getting into the spooky spirit with some fun upcoming Halloween-themed events.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — Erin Terina Maria Patton lived for 16 days. Born on Sept. 18, 2001, Tammy and Cliff Patton’s fourth child and first daughter had a number of complications.

MADISON HEIGHTS — A car show and barbecue cook-off will celebrate both hobbies while raising money for a good cause. The fundraiser, Motorama & Smoke, will take place Saturday, Oct. 14, at Madison High School, located at 915 E. 11 Mile Road. The car show runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., while the cook-off is from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
