EASTPOINTE — A man who allegedly injured a police officer during a traffic stop has now been charged with assault and other felonies.

MADISON HEIGHTS — Madison Heights officials say that the city’s Firefighter of the Year is emblematic of the Fire Department’s commitment to best practices.

HAZEL PARK — A woman allegedly driving too fast lost control of her vehicle on Interstate 75  and spun into the path of a truck that killed her, state police said.

BERKLEY — A 24-year-old Berkley man was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor.

One year later, Tyler Johnson's mother, Tomika Alexander of Ferndale, refuses to let her son's murder case go cold. 

EASTPOINTE — According to a police report, Eastpointe police officers were dispatched to investigate a hit-and-run crash at Nine Mile Road and Beechwood Avenue at around 10:30 p.m. Feb. 9. The victim of the hit-and-run was following the suspect.

TROY —  The work of the Troy Police Department Special Investigations Unit  helped lead to the arrests of 37-year-old Justin Shipp and 45-year-old Jackson Upton.

SOUTHFIELD — “My mom served as an officer with the Southfield Police Department for 29 years. Because of that, I always had a deep respect for police work, but I realized there was so much I didn’t fully understand about what officers experience daily.”

SOUTHFIELD — At 10:15 a.m. Feb. 9, Southfield Police Department officers were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 25000 block of Shiawassee Street after receiving a 911 call that reported there was an unresponsive woman laying face down in the snow.

FERNDALE — An apartment complex in Ferndale suffered major damage after a vehicle lost control and flipped over into the building.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — The Shelby Township Police Department will now have even more help to solve crimes throughout the township.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — On Jan. 10, the Shelby Township Police Department responded to Ulta Beauty at 7728 26 Mile Road for a retail fraud report. The manager advised the police officer that three women entered the business and left the store with $6,000 worth of inventory that they had not paid for.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — On Jan. 20, officers from the Shelby Township Police Department began receiving reports of mail stolen from local businesses. Some of the mail that was stolen contained checks for large amounts of money.

MADISON HEIGHTS — A man waiting for a bus to arrive was killed when a driver left the roadway and struck him. The suspect then fled the scene, only for police to track him down.
