EASTPOINTE — Community members and leaders came together Feb. 2 for the annual State of the City address.

WARREN — A 24-year-old Warren woman is facing charges after a 3-year-old found an unsecured handgun and shot himself in the hand.

HAZEL PARK — A man accused of breaking into a Hazel Park marijuana facility last summer with a group that held a security guard at gunpoint has been captured by Hazel Park police following a high-speed car chase.

HAZEL PARK — A local man has been arraigned on felony charges following a violent attack in which he reportedly used a hatchet to attack a visitor to his home.

MOUNT CLEMENS — Narcotics charges have been added to the long list of allegations against a Clinton Township man on trial for a series of crimes, including an alleged felonious assault, that occurred in mid-January.

FERNDALE — A man found guilty of the murder of a DoorDash driver last year in Ferndale presumably will spend the rest of his life behind bars.

ROCHESTER HILLS — Police are searching for two suspects following a stabbing on the campus of Oakland University Thursday night. 

EASTPOINTE — Police have identified the person they believe is responsible in a recent hit-and-run crash that left a woman hospitalized with severe injuries.

EASTPOINTE — A verbal dispute nearly turned deadly when a man allegedly aimed a handgun at a woman’s head, threatened to kill her, and then fired the gun in the air as she fled the scene with her child.

SOUTHFIELD — The Southfield Police Department is requesting public assistance in locating 16-year-old Nyana Franklin-Hudson.

FERNDALE — A fire that ignited a Ferndale home Jan. 29 was strong enough to force its eventual demolition.

SOUTHFIELD — The Southfield Fire Department arrived at a house fire at approximately 8:20 p.m. Jan. 27 in the 22000 block of Leewright Avenue, south of Nine Mile Road and west of Telegraph Road, and found the structure with heavy smoke and flames.

SOUTHFIELD — At approximately 2:44 a.m. Jan. 29, the Southfield Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at a four-story apartment complex located at 23105 Providence Drive, off Nine Mile Road, west of Greenfield Road.

TROY — A Troy man and a Ferndale woman were recently charged in separate animal cruelty cases by Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald.

SOUTHFIELD — The Southfield Police Department held a press conference on Jan. 22 to discuss the details and investigation of a nonfatal shooting that occurred on Oct. 28 at the BP gas station located at 24722 Southfield Road.

TROY — Tamela Peterson — a 59-year-old Brighton resident, and former CEO of the Oxford Recovery Center in Brighton and Oxford Center in Troy — has been charged with fraud.

ROCHESTER — Retired Redford Township Fire Chief Scott Demoff has been named the new chief of the Rochester Fire Department.

NOVI — Changlin Li, of Novi, the man who allegedly hijacked an ambulance last October, was declared to be incompetent to stand trial during a forensic review and competency hearing on Jan. 14 in 52-1 District Court.

ROCHESTER HILLS — A 34-year-old woman has been charged as an accessory to the plot that led to the murder of Rochester Hills businessman Hussein Murray.

ROCHESTER — One person is dead following a weekend crash involving a Rochester Community Schools bus. The crash happened at around 7:50 a.m. Jan. 24.
