UTICA — Sidney Emmanuel Davis Jr., a 25-year-old man from Utica, was recently referred for a competency evaluation after being charged with first-degree premeditated murder related to a stabbing that occurred at a Meijer gas station in Shelby Township.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — A 24-year-old man has been charged in connection with a recent drive-by shooting at a mobile home park in Shelby Township.

EASTPOINTE — A 44-year-old Eastpointe man — who last fall allegedly threatened a teacher when his child didn’t receive a snack — was bound over to Macomb County Circuit Court on several charges. 

ST. CLAIR SHORES — The quick actions of business owners and firefighters are being credited with preventing further damage resulting from a Christmas Day fire at a restaurant in a strip mall on Greater Mack Avenue just north of Eight Mile Road. 

STERLING HEIGHTS — A Sterling Heights police officer who saved a child in distress last month was saluted for his calmness and competence during an emergency response.

STERLING HEIGHTS/MOUNT CLEMENS — A Sterling Heights police officer who shot and killed a distressed man last month was cleared of any wrongdoing following a Macomb County Sheriff’s Office investigation.

STERLING HEIGHTS — A Sterling Heights High School student recently was acknowledged for the actions he took when he helped a stranger during a medical emergency.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP/ST. CLAIR SHORES — A man from Clinton Township was arraigned in the 40th District Court on Jan. 6 for a robbery that occurred in December.

HAZEL PARK — A local man is in custody facing felony charges after police received a call from his girlfriend as she was reportedly being assaulted.

SOUTHFIELD — Lasiyah Jones, 16, has been safely located, according to Southfield police.

NOVI — The new year started with an unwanted bang in Novi, as winter weather conditions, coupled with alcohol, were the likely causes of a seven-car pileup on eastbound Interstate 96, just west of Novi Road, on Jan. 1. 

SOUTHFIELD — Sixteen-year-old Lasiyah Jones was reported as voluntarily missing on Jan. 2, and the Southfield Police Department is requesting assistance from the public to locate her.

SOUTHFIELD — The Southfield Police Department held a press conference Dec. 29 about a shooting that took place on Christmas Day that ended with two people dead and another person injured.
