ROYAL OAK — The Royal Oak City Commission on Feb. 23 unanimously approved putting a charter amendment proposal on the Aug. 4 primary ballot that if approved would give the city the ability to levy 4.6 mills per year for 10 years starting in 2027 to provide funds for police, fire and emergency medical services.

SOUTHFIELD — Madison Sims-Griffin, 16, has been found and is safe, according to an email released by Southfield law enforcement.

WEST BLOOMFIELD — A local man stands accused of shooting two people in what authorities believe was attempted murder.

TROY — On Feb. 10, the owner and three employees at the Oxford Center were bound over to stand trial in the 6th Circuit Court in Oakland County on felony charges related to a hyperbaric chamber explosion that resulted in the death of a 5-year-old child.

SOUTHFIELD — A third person allegedly connected to a Southfield human trafficking case has been arrested and arraigned, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

NOVI — Shots rang out today from the parking lot of a Novi apartment complex, where a man reportedly opened fire on another man. 

BERKLEY — The Berkley Public Safety Department is seeking information on a shots fired incident that took place earlier this week.

SOUTHFIELD — The Southfield City Council at its Feb. 23 meeting unanimously approved the purchase of a Fotokite tethered drone and pole camera for the Southfield Police Department’s mobile command vehicle.

NOVI — Changlin Li, of Novi, who allegedly hijacked an ambulance in Novi after a crash in October, will undergo additional psychiatric testing to determine if he is responsible for the crimes for which he is charged.
