BEVERLY HILLS/BIRMINGHAM — The Rochester Police Department started the S.A.V.E.S Project earlier this year to provide a resource for people living with cognitive or developmental challenges to feel safer when out in the community.

ROCHESTER HILLS – A Detroit man is in critical condition following an early morning shooting on Thanksgiving at a condominium complex in Rochester Hills.

ROCHESTER HILLS — A Rochester Hills doctor who pleaded no contest to multiple sexual assault charges, including sexually molesting and videotaping children, patients and others, is heading to prison.

MACOMB TOWNSHIP — A new deputy has joined the substation in Macomb Township, and he is looking to sniff out crime.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — A Florida man wanted for armed robbery and false imprisonment was arrested in Shelby Township Nov. 24.

EASTPOINTE — A now-former Pleasantview Elementary School teacher was arrested Dec. 3 in Vermont after he allegedly tried to bring in child pornography from across the U.S.-Canadian border. 

UTICA — Following a police response to his apartment on Nov. 25, 70-year-old Joseph Vanker, of Utica, was arraigned on a charge of assault with intent to murder.

SOUTHFIELD – Southfield police said Dec. 5 that a 53-year-old woman who was shot on Dec. 2 is in stable condition.

SOUTHFIELD — Police are investigating the death of a man who was found with gunshot wounds in the parking lot of the Radisson Hotel Southfield-Detroit on Telegraph Road during the early morning hours of Nov. 30.

ROSEVILLE — A 16-year-old is charged as an adult with carjacking and other offenses for an incident that occurred in Roseville.

WARREN — A 30-year-old man has been ordered to spend six to 20 years in prison for arson and animal cruelty in a September 2024 case.

STERLING HEIGHTS — Sterling Heights police said one person was killed in an officer-involved shooting that occurred in the 44000 block of Apple Blossom Drive Dec. 3.

SOUTHFIELD — A 64-year-old man died from injuries he suffered Nov. 30 in a house fire on 10 Mile Road, which was one of two fires that occurred in the city that day.

ROSEVILLE — Roseville Community Schools dealt with two separate incidents last week that left staff and students unsettled.

ROSEVILLE — Renovations at both of the city’s fire stations continue to progress.

EASTPOINTE — A group of young children who gathered at the Eastpointe Fire Station Nov. 17 anxiously awaited the arrival of the city’s brand-new fire engine.

A phone call home is all it took for a missing and vulnerable adult to make it home safely. 

GROSSE POINTE WOODS — Looks can be deceiving. New Grosse Pointe Woods Public Safety K-9 Arcos will be able to locate and, if needed, bite a suspect, but he’s also a bouncy, energetic, adorable puppy.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — An investigation remained ongoing at press time Dec. 3, more than a week after a shooting at The Mall at Partridge Creek left one man injured.

WARREN — At a special meeting on Nov. 5, Warren City Council members voted to bring in outside firm Plunkett-Cooney to defend the city against a lawsuit filed by the Michigan Manufactured Homes Association.
