SHELBY TOWNSHIP — Utica Community Schools and community leaders gathered to dedicate the district’s newest academy, the Utica High School Academy for Health and Human Services, during the afternoon of Oct. 19 at Utica High School.

NOVI — Students at Novi Middle School will be shining light on a vast array of unsung heroes in the science, technology, engineering and math fields when they perform Thomas Hischak’s play “Eureka! Science and Invention” on Nov. 3.

BLOOMFIELD HILLS — Jessica Lupone, the associate principal of Bloomfield Hills High School, has recently been named Michigan’s 2024 Assistant Principal of the Year by the Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals and the Michigan Association of Student Councils and Honor Societies.

STERLING HEIGHTS/SHELBY TOWNSHIP/UTICA — Bemis Junior High School eighth grader Isabella Bronzovich has recorded a perfect Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress math score for the third consecutive time.

ROSEVILLE — The Roseville Police Department and Roseville Community Schools are working together in an effort to keep students as safe as they can.

NOVI — Novi police believe they have found the person responsible for writing a threatening note that was found in the bathroom at Novi High School Oct. 6. Police said there also was a threatening email received soon after the note.

WEST BLOOMFIELD — People who have been hoping for more green space in the northeast part of West Bloomfield Township have something to be excited about, as the West Bloomfield Parks and Recreation Commission has taken over operation of the former Pine Lake Elementary School property, located at 3333 W. Long Lake Road.

WEST BLOOMFIELD — In a recent letter addressed to parents of West Bloomfield School District students, the district’s superintendent, Dania H. Bazzi, acknowledged an error that was discovered during the annual reconciliation of the district’s budget.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — A Utica Community Schools bus was involved in a crash in Shelby Township Oct. 13 on Schoenherr Road.

GROSSE POINTE WOODS — Anyone interested in becoming an appointed member of the Grosse Pointe Board of Education might want to start improving their typing speed now.

BLOOMFIELD HILLS — School is now in session at North Hills and South Hills middle schools, Bloomfield Hills Schools’ recent additions to the district.

NOVI — A shelter-in-place order was issued at Novi High School Oct. 6 after a threatening note was found at around 11:02 a.m.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP/UTICA/STERLING HEIGHTS — Two recent Utica Community Schools graduates competed against students from 24 states and became national champions in a robotics and automation problem-solving competition this past summer.
