OAKLAND COUNTY — Up to $200 million in medical debt for Oakland County residents will be erased through a new partnership with a nonprofit organization.

NOVI — Novi police believe they have found the person responsible for writing a threatening note that was found in the bathroom at Novi High School Oct. 6. Police said there also was a threatening email received soon after the note.

OAKLAND COUNTY — As of Sept. 11, three Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation bus routes have been extended into Novi and Wixom.

In the Nov. 7 election, voters in Novi will choose a mayor and three City Council members Candidates were asked, in 75 words or fewer, to state their top goal(s) if elected.

NOVI — A shelter-in-place order was issued at Novi High School Oct. 6 after a threatening note was found at around 11:02 a.m.

OAKLAND COUNTY — The county’s affluent neighborhoods have been targeted in what is called a transnational crime ring. Organized and trained thieves have been targeting certain areas of the United States and breaking into homes in search of cash, jewelry, high-end clothing, purses and products.

NOVI — Detective Shawn Penzak, 49, of Canton, was named the 2023 Novi Police Officer of the Year in May, and he said that he wants the public to see officers as people first, rather than as symbols of authority.

NOVI — The 44th annual National POW/MIA Recognition Day was celebrated in Novi Sept. 15 with the 37th annual “Michigan Remembers” ceremony at the prisoner of war and missing in action memorial at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens, at 12 Mile and Novi roads.

NOVI — Oded Fehr, known for his acting roles in “Resident Evil” movies, “The Mummy” and “The Mummy Returns,” will be a celebrity guest at the Motor City Comic Con this fall, as well as comic artist Sweeney Boo.

NOVI — Students and staff at Novi Meadows Elementary School, which serves the fifth and sixth grades, are starting the year off in a brand-new building. The school building sits high upon a hill facing Taft Road, on what was once a parking lot, like a gem for all to see.
