Warren man charged in murder-for-hire plot

CLINTON TOWNSHIP/WARREN — On April 1, in 41B District Court in Clinton Township, a Macomb County Jail inmate and his alleged co-conspirator were arraigned and charged with plotting to kill the husband of the co-conspirator.

Aaron Muterspaw, 36, of Warren, is currently in the Macomb County Jail and according to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office has been communicating via the jail telephone with the second suspect, Carmen Marchetti, 35, of Chesterfield Township. The two were allegedly discussing hurting or killing Marchetti’s soon-to-be ex-husband. The conversations were reportedly discovered when the husband’s attorney made a Freedom of Information Act request for Muterspaw’s jailhouse phone call recordings.

Muterspaw and Marchetti were each charged with one count of conspiracy to commit homicide – solicitation of murder, a felony which carries a life sentence, and one count of telecommunications services – malicious use, a six-month misdemeanor. Marchetti also faces one count of homicide – solicitation of murder, a felony punishable by up to life in prison.

Muterspaw’s attorney of record is Joshua D. Jones, and Marchetti is represented by James T. Bowden. Both attorneys declined comment, according to their respective offices.

Magistrate Ryan Zemke issued a personal bond of $100,000 for Marchetti. Muterspaw’s bond was set at $500,000 cash or surety.

Muterspaw and Marchetti are scheduled for a probable cause conference at 8:30 a.m. April 15 before Judge Sabastian Lucido in 41B District Court in Clinton Township.
