ROSEVILLE — Something was cooking inside the Roseville High School cafe the morning of Oct. 29.

CENTER LINE — Chronic absenteeism in schools has been an issue since the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, according to the Michigan Department of Education.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — This November, Chippewa Valley High School is tackling the timeless tale of “Tuck Everlasting” for its fall musical.

SOUTHFIELD — The Southfield Public Schools were recently awarded state funding for 10 electric buses.

TROY — Ryan Wang, a student at Troy High, is one of two Michigan high school seniors honored as a 2025 U.S. Presidential Scholar.

ROYAL OAK — A resolution to initiate a Safe Routes to School infrastructure program was unanimously approved by the Royal Oak City Commission Oct. 13. 

UTICA — Students at Stevenson and Henry Ford II high schools had the opportunity to explore entrepreneurship opportunities through SparkLab, an eight-week program designed to teach about creativity and business.

TROY — Six students from Troy High have launched a nonprofit called Project Synara with the goal of educating the public about epilepsy. 

FERNDALE — Ferndale Public Schools was recently awarded state funding for three electric buses.

BERKLEY — A potential threat of violence led to an investigation by local police that eventually cleared any involvement at schools in Berkley.

BIRMINGHAM/SOUTHFIELD — Students at Birmingham Public Schools and Southfield Public Schools now have access to state-of-the-art Volkswagen eLabs — resources that promote innovation through STEM learning.

EASTPOINTE — Several bond projects have been completed in the Eastpointe Community Schools district.

ROSEVILLE — Paul Tregembo Sr. had a passion for cars, and for 46 years he shared that energy with the students he taught in auto shop class at Roseville High School.

CENTER LINE — The Center Line High School homecoming parade Oct. 18 gave schools officials the opportunity to publicly celebrate being a district for 125 years.

WARREN — He’s the ghost with the most, and he doesn’t have any rules. The ghoulish character of Beetlejuice will haunt the Warren Community Center stage when the Warren Civic Theatre presents “Beetlejuice Jr.” Nov. 7-9.

WEST BLOOMFIELD — On Nov. 4, voters in the West Bloomfield School District will decide on a 1.552 millage for a 10-year sinking fund.

ROCHESTER — Oakland University has once again been named a Gold-Level Veteran-Friendly School by the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency.

TROY — The Troy School District has been awarded state funding for two electric buses.

STERLING HEIGHTS/UTICA/SHELBY TOWNSHIP — With the help of a grant from the Life Time Foundation, Havel Elementary School has received the Learn-to-Ride Program from All Kids Bike, which will provide students with the tools to learn how to ride a bike.

GROSSE POINTES/HARPER WOODS — Along with mayors, city council members and municipal court judges, residents who live within the boundaries of the Grosse Pointe Public School System are being asked to weigh in on a bond issue during the Nov. 4 election.
