WARREN — The Busch Branch of the Warren Public Library, located at 23333 Ryan Road, will remain closed after school hours until Feb. 28, 2025, per the Warren Library Commission.

ROYAL OAK — The students of the Michigan Great Lakes Virtual Academy were given the opportunity to experience life in the agricultural world on Nov. 22 during an in-person farm science lab.

NOVI — Four Novi Meadows Elementary School sixth graders had the opportunity to demonstrate their robotics knowledge to legislators and business leaders in Lansing during the Michigan Association of Computer Users in Learning Student Technology Showcase at the Michigan State Capitol Dec. 4.

ROCHESTER — Winners of the ninth annual National Student Production Awards were announced Nov. 21 during a ceremony presented by the Foundation of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS). 

SHELBY TOWNSHIP/UTICA/STERLING HEIGHTS — West Utica Elementary School students have begun to use artificial intelligence in their theater classes, and they seem to be really enjoying it.

BERKLEY — Thousands of dollars were handed out to teachers and staff members of the Berkley School District in the form of grants this fall.

MADISON HEIGHTS — A teacher in the Madison District Public Schools and three teachers in the Lamphere Public Schools are among those receiving competitive grants for classroom projects.

FARMINGTON — Two annual Farmington Public Schools craft shows are more than a place for area crafters to showcase their work. They also offer young entrepreneurs a chance to grow and develop their business and corresponding skills.

WARREN — In past years, students with special needs whose families wanted their daughters to attend Regina High School for a Catholic education didn’t always have the opportunity because the school didn’t have the necessary resources.

TROY — Troy School District librarian Christina Chatel and Boulan Park Middle School teacher Michelle Slaviero were recently honored by the Michigan Association of School Librarians with the 2024 MASL School Librarian/Teacher Collaboration Award. 

ST. CLAIR SHORES — Four Jefferson Middle School students will present their projects in Lansing for state senators and others to view.

CENTER LINE — The new sixth grade Academy Explorer class at Wolfe Middle School is giving students the opportunity to strengthen their computer skills, sharpen their creativity and better understand the meaning of teamwork.

KEEGO HARBOR/WEST BLOOMFIELD — Residents who have been awaiting the fate of the former Roosevelt Elementary School in Keego Harbor still don’t have a final decision.

FARMINGTON — Megan Saunders was named the Farmington Public Schools 2024-2025 Senior Extraordinaire and presented with a star trophy during the district’s annual senior breakfast on Oct. 17.
