SHELBY TOWNSHIP — The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office has arraigned a 17-year-old on a second-degree murder charge in connection with an alleged drunken driving incident that caused a man’s death in Shelby Township Jan. 7.

FARMINGTON HILLS — On Dec. 18, Tiesha Johnson, 55, formerly of Farmington Hills, was arraigned in 47th District Court in Farmington Hills on charges of fraudulently obtaining Paycheck Protection Program loans and Economic Injury Disaster loans from the federal government, according to a press release from the Michigan Attorney General’s Office.

OAKLAND COUNTY — Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel recently filed a lawsuit against businesses with local ties.

FARMINGTON HILLS — The Farmington Hills Fire Department has increased its staffing at Fire Station 3 to support 24-hour, year-round operations.

STERLING HEIGHTS/DETROIT — Two female Sterling Heights High School teachers who six months ago filed a lawsuit against Warren Consolidated Schools are expected to be back in court for an interim status conference March 4.

WEST BLOOMFIELD — At around 6 p.m. Jan. 9, West Bloomfield Police Department officers were dispatched to the area of Orchard Lake and Green roads for a report of a hit-and-run crash, according to a press release from the Police Department.

HARRISON TOWNSHIP — Benvenuto Family Restaurant on Jefferson Avenue will be closed indefinitely after an early morning fire on Jan. 18.

KEEGO HARBOR — The Keego Harbor Police Department recently became one of the many departments across the country to be approved for body cameras for patrol officers.

ROSEVILLE/ST. CLAIR SHORES — According to a press release by the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office, 31-year-old Shane Burns has been ordered to stand trial for stabbings in Roseville and St. Clair Shores last year.

WEST BLOOMFIELD – According to a press release from the West Bloomfield Police Department, at around 5 p.m. Jan. 9, a witness saw a physical altercation take place in a parking lot located at 4301 Orchard Lake Road.

AUBURN HILLS — Police are searching for three unidentified suspects responsible for robbing a jewelry store at Great Lakes Crossing Outlets.

SOUTHFIELD — Controversy ensued around gun buyback programs after the New York Times launched an investigation that found the guns collected at buybacks in Flint and Southfield were not destroyed but were instead recycled and resold.

SOUTHFIELD — A business and its owner were found liable for operating an illegal dump at 20905 Mapleridge Ave. in Southfield, with asbestos and other hazardous materials found on-site.

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP — A man from Massachusetts is being held in the Oakland County Jail for allegedly harassing a Bloomfield Township official and sending threatening emails about him to hundreds of others.

MADISON HEIGHTS/HAZEL PARK — The cities of Madison Heights and Hazel Park have joined Ferndale and Royal Oak in a deal that will provide their police departments with specialists that can follow up with those in a mental health crisis.
