SHELBY TOWNSHIP — West Bloomfield, like most teams in the state, has battled the injury bug throughout the season. 

BIRMINGHAM — Talk about one of the crazier rivalry games you’ll see in high school football — Birmingham Seaholm and Birmingham Groves put on a gridiron classic in the first round of the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 2 State Tournament.

ROSEVILLE — As talented and athletic of a group as Roseville football is, there’s been times where the hunger wasn’t as strong as it should be, and it showed against Harper Woods last week in a 24-7 loss.

GROSSE POINTE FARMS — One of the more historic rivalries in the state of Michigan, Grosse Pointe North and Grosse Pointe South went head-to-head on Oct. 20 at South High School.

MACOMB TOWNSHIP — For the fourth-straight season, L’Anse Creuse football holds the upper hand over Macomb L’Anse Creuse North.

It was rivalry weekend all around the state of Michigan, and the bragging rights for the city of St. Clair Shores were up for grabs on Oct. 13 at Lake Shore High School for the game against Lakeview.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — It doesn’t get much better than a rivalry game in any sport, but Utica and Utica Eisenhower have an extra element to their neighborhood clash.

ROYAL OAK — Confidence has been the point of focus for Royal Oak football this season, and the Ravens continue to be on the right track toward success.

TROY — When you talk about wins that put a program on the right track, Troy Athens will be focusing on this one for a long time.

BIRMINGHAM — The first true Friday night football rainfall hit Birmingham Seaholm as the Maples took on Auburn Hills Avondale Oct. 6 at Seaholm High School, and both teams took the brunt of it.

NOVI — The way both the Novi and Plymouth offenses have played this season, fans were expecting a scoring barrage between the two Kensington Lakes Activities Association West teams, and it was as advertised when the teams faced off Sept. 29 at Novi High School.

WEST BLOOMFIELD — Former West Bloomfield coach and now University of Michigan wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy brought some much-needed confidence to the West Bloomfield squad Sept. 22 as they faced Rochester Adams.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — As Utica Eisenhower traveled to Romeo for a Macomb Area Conference Red football showdown, a crowd of thousands also was in attendance for a moving annual tribute.
