NOVI — There is a new mayor in town, and his name is Justin Fischer.

OAKLAND COUNTY — Motorists should be on high alert for deer in the roadway this winter. Each year, there are over 50,000 deer-car crashes reported in Michigan, according to the Michigan State Police, with the majority of vehicle-deer crashes occurring in the late fall and early winter.

NOVI — Hundreds of people gathered at Twelve Mile Crossing at Fountain Walk Nov. 17 for Light the Lights!, Novi’s tree-lighting ceremony in the center of the shopping area.

OAKLAND COUNTY — The Michigan High School Athletic Association swim and dive state finals marked a successful end to the season for a slew of Oakland County teams Nov. 18.

NOVI — Residents at Brookdale Senior Living and Novi Lakes Health Campus who served in the armed forces were honored with special ceremonies ahead of Veterans Day.

NOVI — Fans of Doug Jones were treated to a premiere of his new film “Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror,” a remake of the 1922 silent film, at the Emagine Theatre in Novi on Nov. 11, followed by a question-and-answer session with Jones and his agent, Derek Maki.

NOVI — Thousands of people, from all over the country, converged at the Suburban Collection Showplace for a chance to meet their celebrity heroes at the Motor City Comic Con’s fall show Nov. 10-12.

OAKLAND COUNTY — Overhead sign installation the weekend of Nov. 17-Nov. 19 will require closing lanes and ramps on I-96 in the Milford area as work continues on the I-96 Flex Route project in Oakland County.

NOVI — The Motor City Comic Con will return this weekend for a fall show for the second year in a row, bringing many special treats to fans of pop culture and in particular to those who are into the horror genre.

NOVI — The people have spoken, and for the first time in 12 years, Novi has a new mayor. Justin Fischer has been selected to lead the city for the next four years.

NOVI — After 48 years of dedication to the city of Novi, Mayor Bob Gatt decided the time was right to close the “local politics” chapter of his life and let someone younger lead the city.

OAKLAND COUNTY — It’s no secret that Oakland County has arguably the best competition for high school tennis in Michigan, and it was well represented at the top of the leaderboards when the Michigan High School Athletic Association Boys Tennis State FInals ended Oct. 21.

OAKLAND COUNTY — Michigan will see its first high-occupancy lanes implemented this November on Interstate 75 between 12 Mile Road and South Boulevard … at least some of the time.

NOVI — Students at Novi Middle School will be shining light on a vast array of unsung heroes in the science, technology, engineering and math fields when they perform Thomas Hischak’s play “Eureka! Science and Invention” on Nov. 3.

OAKLAND COUNTY — On Oct. 20, more than 200 people gathered for the 10th annual Regional Stormwater Summit to hear from experts and learn about a rebate program designed to encourage residents to reduce stormwater runoff on their own property.

NOVI — The city of Novi will be one of 45 communities across Oakland County to pilot the new early voting system this election year.
