MACOMB TOWNSHIP — Confusion, insults and questions were aplenty at the April 7 meeting of the Macomb Township Planning Commission, where an incomplete planning document put a halt to a commercial condominium development.

ST. CLAIR SHORES — According to a press release posted to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, at 12:37 p.m. on April 13, Marine Division deputies were dispatched for a capsized vessel report on Lake St. Clair, off St. Clair Shores.

MADISON HEIGHTS — On Aug. 4, voters in Madison Heights will decide whether to approve a road millage — a tax that will cost the average homeowner about $126 each year for the next 10 years.

MADISON HEIGHTS — Officials are praising the cross-agency teamwork that led to the arrest of a suspect in connection with armed robberies at two Madison Heights businesses. The suspect is Derrick Hughes, 57, of Detroit.

ROSEVILLE — One person died in a two-vehicle crash at approximately 9:30 p.m. April 9 on southbound Groesbeck Highway, just south of Martin Road, that Roseville police suspect involved a drunken driver.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — A Shelby Township man accused of possessing and distributing child pornography has been charged with 12 felonies, according to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office.

WARREN — Four juveniles are facing charges after a police pursuit ended on Macomb Community College’s campus in Warren.

STERLING HEIGHTS — With comments ranging from “outrageous” to “well deserved,” city officials April 7 approved a $25,000 pay hike for the city’s top administrator.

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP — Deshawn Steven Johnson, a 51-year-old man, has been charged with robbing the Mi Bank at 3707 W. Maple Road April 1. 

ST. CLAIR SHORES — With over 50 years of hosting life’s most important celebrations, Lakeland Manor has been a staple in the community. 

SOUTHFIELD/DETROIT — “Hip Hop Expansion” on March 27 at the Detroit Institute of Arts celebrated the museum’s exhibit “Contemporary Anishinaabe Art: A Continuation” with music, lights and cultural exchange.

WARREN — Just before students went on spring break March 30 through April 6, Warren Mott High School held “Strive for a Better Drive” in an effort to promote safe driving among the teenagers.

FERNDALE — A new piece of public art is being donated to the city of Ferndale and will be located in the Woodward Avenue median.
