ST. CLAIR SHORES — At its meeting on Dec. 1, the St. Clair Shores City Council approved updated prices for a variety of fees within the city. 

WARREN — Homeowners in the city of Warren may soon be able to receive assistance for home repairs or down payments thanks to a program approved by the City Council.

WARREN — Warren officials are asking the state to step in after sewage overflows from Oakland County continue to send lightly treated wastewater through the city and into the Clinton River.

STERLING HEIGHTS — New rules aimed at preventing individuals from losing money in a growing category of fraud have been adopted in Sterling Heights.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — The Clinton Township Board of Trustees approved a merger of the township’s Recreation Department and senior center operations at its Dec. 22 meeting.

MADISON HEIGHTS — The city of Madison Heights has applied for the federal Community Development Block Grant Program, hoping to cover lawn care expenses for seniors, home repairs for qualifying residents, and the cost of code enforcement officers to fight blight.

MADISON HEIGHTS — One of the last acts by the Madison Heights City Council in 2025 was the adoption of the parks and recreation master plan.

WEST BLOOMFIELD — At the Dec. 15 meeting of the West Bloomfield Township Board of Trustees, Kelly Hyer, executive director of West Bloomfield Parks, gave an update on the progress of the new Community Connection Center, a multigenerational facility backed by a $25 million voter-approved bond.

WEST BLOOMFIELD — Township trustees unanimously approved the 2026 budget for West Bloomfield Dec. 15 — a budget marked by increased spending due to capital needs.

ST. CLAIR SHORES — At its final meeting of 2025, the St. Clair Shores City Council received a clean audit report from the contracted firm of Yeo & Yeo CPAs & Advisors. 

SOUTHFIELD — The Southfield City Council voted 5-2 in favor of a proposed data center site plan at its Dec. 15 meeting.

GROSSE POINTE FARMS — Louis Theros might have served as mayor of Grosse Pointe Farms for the last eight years, but he doesn’t take credit for the city’s accomplishments under his leadership.

MADISON HEIGHTS — In a sign of good financial health, the city of Madison Heights recently received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association.

ROYAL OAK — The city of Royal Oak announced on Dec. 9 that Joe Gacioch will no longer serve as the city manager. 

ROYAL OAK — The city’s changes to its parking system are slated to be complete by Jan. 2, installing what it believes will be easy-to-use parking meters, signage and a new payment app.

CLAWSON — Clawson held a special City Council meeting Dec. 8 to interview applicants for the vacant spot on the City Council previously held by now-Mayor Susan Moffitt, and when the time came for a decision, the council unanimously chose Alec Speshock. 

PLEASANT RIDGE — Pleasant Ridge’s discussion of short-term rentals in the city will continue. The topic of short-term rentals, such as Airbnb and Vrbo, has been ongoing in Pleasant Ridge over the course of the year. At its Dec. 9 meeting, the City Commission heard potential ideas on how to regulate short-term rentals through an ordinance.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — A plan to merge two township departments has seen its first major public review, but further action will take place later.

EASTPOINTE — Following a search that began shortly after the former city manager left in March, Ryan Madis was sworn in as Eastpointe’s city manager during a ceremony Dec. 1.

WEST BLOOMFIELD — When the West Bloomfield Township Board of Trustees met Dec. 1, members voted unanimously to adopt a resolution honoring the life and contributions of Kathy Hagopian, who served the township on boards and commissions for more than 20 years.
