STERLING HEIGHTS — A recent public presentation from the Sterling Heights CommUNITY Alliance revealed how its plans are coming together.

FARMINGTON HILLS — Farmington Hills is in the midst of one of the most important processes that communities engage in, and it has the potential to result in some big changes.

HARRISON TOWNSHIP — Saginaw Valley State University held a history-making hall of fame induction ceremony on Oct. 28, as they honored a local volleyball star.

OAKLAND COUNTY — Five candidates were competing for three six-year terms on the Lamphere Board of Education in the general election Nov. 8.  Paul Cavanaugh came in first with 22.54% (2,367 votes), followed by Ryan McCann at 21.15% (2,221 votes) and Anthony Austin at 19.

METRO DETROIT — Recent years have seen an increasing number of women pursuing medicine. According to a data report from the Association of American Medical Colleges, 2019 was the first year more women were enrolled in medical school than men.

HAZEL PARK — Six candidates were competing for three four-year terms on the Hazel Park Public Schools Board of Education in the general election Nov. 8.  The three winners were Beverly Hinton at 20% (2,682 votes), Monica Rattee at 18.64% (2,499 votes), and Deborah Laframboise at 17.

HARRISON TOWNSHIP — The Harrison Township Board of Trustees met for its second time in the month Oct.24, where the items of discussion included court budgets, sign appeals and liquor licenses.

OAKLAND COUNTY — According to unofficial results the morning of Nov. 8, with 99% of precincts reporting in Oakland County, Democrat Haley Stevens has won the race for the newly redrawn 11th District of the U.S. House of Representatives.

METRO DETROIT — Oakland County officials are crying foul after a resolution was passed by the Macomb County Board of Commissioners, laying the blame for poor water quality reports on the neighboring jurisdiction.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — The Clinton Township Board of Trustees had a lengthy meeting on Oct. 24, hearing three presentations and completing other items of business.

OAKLAND COUNTY — Gary McGillivray secured another term representing the 3rd District on the Oakland County Board of Commissioners Nov. 8. McGillivray received 60.42% (16,738 votes), while his Republican opponent Ronald Dwyer took 39.47% (10,934 votes). There were 30 unassigned write-ins.

MOUNT CLEMENS — Changes to recreation programs in Mount Clemens held top billing as Mayor Laura Kropp delivered her 2022 State of the City address at the Cairns Community Center on Oct. 14.

HAZEL PARK — Police have arrested the alleged gunman after a shooting at LG Energy Solution in Hazel Park, an incident that left one dead following what appears to have been an argument.

METRO DETROIT — According to unofficial results the morning of Nov. 8, with 100% of precincts reporting in both Oakland and Macomb counties, Republican Thomas Kuhn has prevailed in his bid for the 57th District of the Michigan House of Representatives.

HAZEL PARK — An automated camera system that scans the license plates of passing cars and identifies vehicles reported missing or wanted has led to the arrest of a suspect allegedly found in possession of a stolen car.

MADISON HEIGHTS — A local woman was recently honored for a world record flight she made two years ago in the middle of the pandemic, piloting a plane from Chicago to Omaha in less than three hours.

NOVI — A Novi High School student has been suspended and faces possible charges for allegedly writing a threatening message on the bathroom wall at the school, according to Novi Police Cmdr. Jason Meier.   

NOVI — The Acme Partyworks Rental Co. building at 41326 Vincenti Court was lost to what appears to be an accidental fire Nov. 2, according to Novi Assistant Fire Chief John Martin.
