MOUNT CLEMENS — Macomb County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Steve Fox said only one person left alive knows what really happened inside Dona Lawrence’s apartment on the morning of Aug. 10, 2016.

That man, Fox told the jury in Macomb County Circuit Court Oct. 13, is Anthony Iannotti.

Pointing directly at Lawrence’s accused killer during his closing argument, Fox held his finger inches away from Iannotti’s face as he told the jury that the killer sat “with a blank stare” 15 feet from them.

WEST BLOOMFIELD — The Federal Bureau of Investigation released its annual report of crime statistics for 2016, showing that crime is down in West Bloomfield. 

The report covers the entirety of the United States. The data is broken down by state, then city and then into categories of crime. 

In 2016, West Bloomfield Township’s population was 66,123, as reported in the FBI document. The crime statistics are all based on those incidents that were reported to the Police Department.

CENTER LINE — Better and more efficient versions of the Jaws of Life tools are being delivered to Center Line, thanks to a grant from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. 

Center Line Public Safety Director Paul Myszenski said the department received a grant in the amount of $19,568 for the purchase of Hurst eDRAULIC tools. The state-of-the-art pieces of equipment, which function on battery power and do not require cumbersome power cords or compressors, are used to spread apart and cut through wreckage wherever extrications of trapped people are required.
