Sole possession of first place in the Macomb Area Conference Silver Division will be at stake when the football teams from Madison Heights Madison and Marine City High face off at 7 p.m. Sept. 14 at Madison.

Both teams will enter the game with a 3-0 overall record, and 2-0 in the MAC Silver.

Madison has outscored its opponents 116-27 this year, with Marine City holding a 122-37 advantage in the games it has played.

When the teams played last season, Madison came away with a 28-24 victory.

Both programs have had a solid history of success.

Marine City has missed the playoffs just three times since 1990.

Last season, the Mariners made it to a Division 5 district final, where their season came to an end with a loss to Frankenmuth High.

Before reaching the playoffs, Marine City won a MAC Gold championship, going 5-0 in division play.

Last year, Madison qualified for the playoffs for the 13th consecutive season, with its only loss of the year coming in a D7 semifinal against Saugatuck High.

The Eagles also went 5-0 in division play, earning the program its sixth consecutive MAC Silver championship (one of those titles was shared).

Marine City has won three of the four games played between the programs, dating back to the 2010 season.
