TROY — Trailing by one goal, Rochester Adams senior Evan Drew struck twice in the final five minutes of the game to give the visiting Highlanders a 6-5 victory May 5 at Troy High.

The final tally came with 1:15 remaining off a deflection in front of the net.

“It bounced off the goalie’s stick and went right into mine. It was wide open, so I decided to throw it in the back of the net,” Drew said.

Adams opened the game with a 2-0 lead before the Colts responded with four of their own goals to make it 4-2 at the half.

Troy led 5-3 with 8:28 left in the third before the Highlanders made their rally.

“We’re a young team overall. Graduating 20 seniors from last year, there are some huge shoes to fill,” Troy coach Nick Stenson said. “It’s growing pains, but it bodes well for the future.”

Sean Ronan led Adams with three goals. Drew finished with two and Will Ronan tallied one.

The Highlanders go to 9-3 with the win.

Jack Baker paced Troy with two scores and Michael Flynn, Joey Bugaj and Chris Kondoleon each had one.

The Colts fall to 6-7.
