METRO DETROIT — The 2018 state football playoffs start Oct. 26 and end with the Division 1-8 state title games Nov. 23-24 at Ford Field in Detroit.

Several squads from programs in the C & G Sports coverage area have battled their way to a playoff berth.

Teams that play a nine-game schedule must win six games to receive an automatic bid into the postseason, while squads that play eight games need five wins for the automatic berth.

Even still, five-win teams with nine-game schedules still have a shot. That happens when there aren’t enough six-win teams to fill out the bracket for all eight divisions. When that happens, the top five-win teams — based on playoff points — earn a spot.

Following is a listing of the teams in C & G’s coverage area that have earned playoff berths through six weeks of play, along with programs that are just one win away.

We’ll continue to take a look at how the playoffs shape up as the season goes along.
