Following a 392-yard rushing performance against Fraser, Utica senior running back Kumehnnu Gwilly will look to continue to run wild against Utica Ford in Week 2.

The UCS rivals will meet at 7 p.m. on Sept. 3 at Runkel Field on the Sterling Heights Stevenson campus.

Gwilly, a Central Michigan University commit, led Utica to a 41-31 season-opening win against Fraser. It was Utica’s first season-opening win since the 2011 season. The Chieftains will be looking for its first 2-0 start since 2010, which was Utica’s last postseason appearance.

Utica Ford got a pair of touchdown runs from Michael DeRoy in a 30-14 win against Ypsilanti Lincoln last week.

Ford leads the all-time series with Utica 17-7, and won last year’s meeting 23-21.

The teams have played every year since 2010, with Utica winning three of the five meetings. The contests have generally been low-scoring affairs, as Utica has averaged 19.2 points per game in those meetings, while Ford has averaged 11.4.

With a win, Ford would be eyeing its first 3-0 start since 1994 in a Week 3 game against Port Huron. Utica’s next opponent is Romeo.
