MAC honors top girls basketball players

Though the Michigan High School Athletic Association canceled the remainder of the winter sports season due to the ongoing concerns surrounding COVID-19, various sports leagues throughout the state still honored its athletes for their accomplishments.

Following is a list of the top girls basketball players and coaches within the Macomb Area Conference.

MAC RED

League champion, Grosse Pointe South; Coach of the Year, Kevin Richards, South, Gary Bennett, Grosse Pointe North; League MVP, Cameron Grant, Macomb Dakota.

All-Conference team: Alexa Downey and Sarah Rogers, South; Chrisrina Braker and Madie Kohler, North; Ella Burger, Dakota; Ally Shagena, Port Huron Northern; Rachel Adewusi, Warren Cousino; Olivia Stack, Utica Eisenhower.

MAC WHITE

League champion, Port Huron High; Coach of the Year, Becky Gilbert, Port Huron; League MVP, Emma Trombly, Port Huron.

All-Conference team: Olivia Kubik and Zahra Williams, Utica Ford; Rachel Whitehead and Lina Rea, Utica High; Madison Landschoot, Julia Gilbert and Jenna Holzberger, Port Huron; Raegan Mazur and Ava Muschong, Romeo High.

MAC BLUE

League champion, Macomb L’anse Creuse North; Coach of the Year, Bob Johnston, LCN; League MVP, Brooke Daniels, LCN.
