A divisional run is on the line when Berkley High hosts Royal Oak High football at 7 p.m. Oct. 2.

Berkley comes in at 4-1 overall and 4-0 in the Oakland Activities Association Blue Division, tied with Birmingham Groves.

Royal Oak is 3-2 and 3-1 in the Blue, and still controls its destiny in the division with Berkley this week and Groves coming to town Oct. 16.

This is the third meeting between the Bears and Ravens. Royal Oak won the last time they met 20-18 in 2013.

After dropping its first game of the season, Berkley has been on a roll, winning four straight by an average score of 33-15. The Bears scored a season-high 52 points last week on Auburn Hills Avondale.

Royal Oak is experiencing a resurgence. Its three wins are already the fourth-winningest season in the program’s 10 years. In its last four contests, it has let up an average of seven points per game. Offensively, it’s scoring nearly 25 points in that time, including a 35-0 victory against Pontiac High last week.
