FARMINGTON HILLS — Jon Herstein was going to put a positive spin on this, one way or another.

The Farmington Hills Harrison wrestling coach has watched his young, up-and-coming team improve all season long.

And he was more than happy to boast about it following last week’s team district action.

“The kids wrestled very tough in this one,” Herstein said of the Division 2 district Feb. 8. “We were a little banged up, so we had to battle. It was certainly something to build on.”

Harrison defeated Redford Thurston 48-23 in the opening round before falling to Redford Union 48-30 in the final.

Redford Union defeated Farmington High in the opener.

The Hawks ended the team portion of the season with a 9-14 record.

“This is a good, young team,” Herstein said. “We’re going to return a number of guys next year. We have to stick with it and improve our chances to have an even better year.”

In other D-1 action, Bloomfield Hills High defeated North Farmington 48-28 in a district opener.
