‘Beaming’ with confidence

The Farmington United Gymnastics squad finished in fourth place overall at the March 11-12 state finals, collecting 146.125 points — including a first-place team finish on uneven bars (36.850).

Division 1 and Division 2 medals were awarded to the top 10 finishers in each event.

In D-1, medal winners are Kristin McKelvey, who finished fourth on vault (9.4), fifth on bars (9.250), seventh on the balance beam (9.325) and fourth on floor (9.550) to score 37.525 in the all-around; Alyssa Bresso, who earned ninth place on uneven bars (9.1); and Kyoko Yamamoto, who finished third on bars (9.3) and tallied 36.275 points in the all-around.

In D-2, Farmington Hills Harrison’s Stephanie Sanders finished third on vault (9.350) and sixth on beam (9.125) to secure 35.700 in the all-around. Amanda Lumley finished seventh on uneven bars (9.025), second on floor (9.575) and fourth all-around (36.500 all-around). Meredith Jonik finished 10th (9.000) on beam.
