SHELBY TOWNSHIP — Utica Eisenhower baseball will play its first playoff game May 28 against a team that has been to the Division 1 state quarterfinals two of the past three years. The Eagles will face Rochester High at Rochester in a pre-district game, with first pitch scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

BIRMINGHAM — When asked what’s been clicking the most for his team, Birmingham Seaholm baseball coach John Toth said “everything.” At press time, his Maples were 21-2 and won the Oakland Activities Association White Division with a 9-0 league record after a 10-0 victory over West Bloomfield High May 8.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP/UTICA — Fourteen games into the season and the Utica Eisenhower girls lacrosse team has won 14 games. With that success comes pressure. The Eagles had gone through a lull earlier in the season. They were winning, but coach Desiree Messina didn’t feel the team was playing to its full potential. After a talk with her players, she learned of some outside pressure they were feeling to keep the undefeated streak alive.

ROCHESTER HILLS — It all started roughly six and a half years ago, when Rochester High senior Jonathan Schneck was introduced to “League of Legends” by some friends. “League of Legends” is a multiplayer online battle arena video game developed and published by Riot Games. At its core, “League of Legends” is a game where players are split into two teams with the common goal of destroying the opponent’s “Nexus,” a structure that lies in the middle of their base and is protected by defensive structures.
