A 24-year-old Shelby Township woman and a 23-year-old woman from Rochester Hills were hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash on Livernois Road in Rochester Hills at around 11 a.m. May 23.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office said the woman was driving a 2001 Pontiac Montana north on Livernois Road, near River Bend Drive, when she drifted left of center and struck a 2005 Jeep Liberty — operated by an 18-year-old Rochester Hills man — that was traveling south.

Deputies said the Shelby Township woman, who had to be extricated from the vehicle, was flown to Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, and was in critical condition at press time.

There were four passengers in the Pontiac Montana at the time of the crash — one adult and three children, according to police.

The front passenger — a 23-year-old woman from Rochester Hills — also had to be extricated from the car and was transported to Beaumont Hospital in Troy, where she was listed in stable condition at press time.

The three children, who were seated in the back of the car, were not injured in the crash, but authorities said they were transported to Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, for observation.

Deputies said the 18-year-old man complained of a minor injury and was not transported to the hospital.

Authorities closed Livernois Road north of Avon Road and Harding Avenue in both directions following the crash, but reopened the road at around 2 p.m.

The crash is under investigation.
