A 66-year-old Troy man died of injuries he sustained in a crash at Stephenson Highway and Maple Road just before 10:30 a.m. Sept. 11.

Police continue to investigate the cause of the accident.

Police said Michael Irvin Burke was traveling southbound in a blue 2004 Dodge Neon on Stephenson Highway through the Maple Road intersection when a silver 2009 Chrysler 300 traveling westbound struck his car.

Burke was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Roseville Police Department Traffic Bureau is investigating a fatal crash involving an 80-year-old St. Clair Shores resident who reportedly exited the parking lot of Kroger on 13 Mile Road, between Flora and St. Margaret streets, and collided with a semi-truck at approximately 1 p.m. Aug. 17.

The St. Clair Shores resident was transported to a local hospital where she died shortly after arriving, according to police.

Roseville Deputy Police Chief Donald Glandon stated in a news release that the driver of the semi-truck had no apparent injuries.

A man is dead and a woman is in the hospital following an early morning weekend crash.

According to Lt. Ted Goff, of the Southfield Police Department, police were called at around 6:33 a.m. Aug. 14 to the scene of an accident on southbound Telegraph Road, north of 12 Mile.

Goff said a 65-year-old man from Bloomfield Hills was travelling southbound on Telegraph when he rear-ended a vehicle that was stopped at the traffic signal north of 12 Mile.

The Roseville Police Department is investigating a three-car crash that occurred at about 10 a.m. Aug. 5 on southbound Gratiot at Masonic that has caused southbound Gratiot and eastbound and westbound Masonic to be closed to all traffic, according to a news release sent from Roseville Police Chief James P. Berlin.

Berlin said that the preliminary investigation indicates that a minivan ran a red light and struck a vehicle traveling southbound on Gratiot. That vehicle then swerved and hit a third vehicle.

HARRISON TOWNSHIP — A 41-year-old Mount Morris man died after he lost control of his motorcycle in Harrison Township the night of Aug. 2, sheriff’s officials report.

According to Macomb County Sheriff’s Lt. John Michalke, the crash occurred at approximately 10:16 p.m. in the 37000 block of Townhall Street.

SOUTHFIELD ― A Michigan State Police Trooper is recovering at a hospital after a recent early morning freeway crash.

According to Michigan State Police First Lt. Mike Shaw, the crash occurred around 7 a.m. July 25, when a trooper was called to the area of eastbound Interstate 696 and M-10 on report of a rollover drunk driving crash.

“As the trooper pulled up to the scene, a large state truck hauling construction equipment failed to stop and struck the rear of the patrol car,” Shaw said.

CENTER LINE — An investigation into an afternoon collision that killed a middle-aged bicyclist at 10 Mile and Federal July 7 remains open and ongoing, while a final confirmation of the deceased man’s identity is still pending.

Lt. Thomas Costello of the Center Line Public Safety Department said the bicyclist, thought to be 61, apparently left a party store at the intersection just after 3 p.m. when he was struck on Federal by a Chrysler 300.

WARREN/STERLING HEIGHTS — Two suspects were apprehended and were among five people injured — including two police officers — after a bank robbery in Sterling Heights led to a pursuit and two crashes in Warren shortly after 1 p.m. on June 23. 

According to Sterling Heights Police Capt. Dale Dwojakowski, a bank robbery was reported at about 12:50 p.m. at the Vibe Credit Union, located at 33950 Van Dyke Ave. in Sterling Heights, just north of 14 Mile Road. Police said no one was hurt during the incident, and no weapon was reportedly seen.

Police said a 23-year-old Pontiac man took his own life by lying on the railroad tracks near Catalpa Drive the morning of June 22.

Royal Oak Police Department Criminal Investigations Division Lt. David Clemens said the man’s next of kin was notified June 23.

“We are withholding the name out of respect and compassion for the family,” he said.

FERNDALE — A medical condition is what Ferndale police and the Oakland County medical examiner believe caused a crash and a 62-year-old man’s death on Sunday, June 12.

According to police, the medical condition caused Paul Kish to veer off Woodward Avenue, near Oakridge Street, at approximately 6:12 a.m.

The crash happened near the Living Modes furniture store at the intersection. Kish’s pickup truck crashed head-on into a utility pole after hitting some smaller trees along the way.

HARRISON TOWNSHIP — A 23-year-old Warren woman was uninjured after her vehicle veered off the expressway and into a drainage ditch adjacent to the Clinton River Spillway in Harrison Township the morning of June 8.

Macomb County sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene of westbound Interstate 94 between Metropolitan Parkway and Shook Road at just after 8:42 a.m. after a semitrailer driver contacted 911 upon witnessing the car suddenly drive off the road and land in the drainage ditch.

STERLING HEIGHTS — A Sterling Heights resident is facing charges after the vehicle he was driving collided with a Warren Consolidated Schools bus as it transported students home May 27.

Konrad Sliwinski, 40, has been charged with a minor injury accident, felonious assault with a motor vehicle, and reckless driving for crashing into the bus after he was allegedly involved in a road rage incident that reportedly began in Troy.

STERLING HEIGHTS — A Grissom Middle School student was taken to a local hospital for observation after a Warren Consolidated Schools bus was involved in a traffic incident at about 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 27.

The crash happened on 15 Mile Road between Ryan and Dequindre roads, according to district officials. According to information obtained by WCS officials, an SUV hit the bus head-on and the bus driver was not at fault.

A 25-year-old Romeo man died of injuries he sustained after he crashed his motorcycle on Big Beaver, at Daley Drive, east of Rochester Road, just before 10:30 p.m. May 19.

According to reports, witnesses said the man was driving erratically in and out of traffic with two other motorcycles before the crash.

“All the motorcycles were seen traveling together prior to the crash,” said Troy police Sgt. Meghan Lehman. She said there were no charges made against the other motorcycle drivers at this time. “We are still investigating,” she said.

MACOMB TOWNSHIP — A 21-year-old Macomb Township man was ticketed after he reportedly crashed his car into the rear of a L’Anse Creuse school bus the morning of May 5.

According to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office, the school bus was stopped to pick up a student on eastbound 21 Mile Road, near Parklane Court, in Macomb Township at around 8:16 a.m. when the collision occurred. The bus had its red flashers activated at the time of the crash, law enforcement reported.

Police say a mix of alcohol and speed are likely to blame for a fatal car crash that occurred Sunday night, killing one person and injuring another.

The incident took place just before 10 p.m. Sunday, May 15. According to Sgt. Kim Comerford of the Bloomfield Township Police Department, 24-year-old Travis Walls, of Ortonville, and his 22-year-old female passenger from West Bloomfield struck a tree in a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee after leaving the roadway while traveling eastbound on Long Lake Road, from Telegraph.

The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office has reported that a Macomb Township man died following a motorcycle crash during the evening of May 4.

Jeremiah King, 29, died after his motorcycle collided with a minivan at the corner of 23 Mile Road and Romeo Plank at 9:33 p.m.

The Sheriff’s Office reported that the motorcycle was traveling northbound on Romeo Plank, and as it entered the 23 Mile Road intersection, it hit the minivan.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — The Clinton Township Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that led to the death of a 93-year-old man.

The traffic incident occurred at approximately 8:50 a.m. on Tuesday, April 26, at the intersection of 19 Mile and Garfield roads in Clinton Township.

A 93-year-old man was driving a silver 2005 Buick Century. Preliminary investigation indicated that the Buick was traveling westbound on 19 Mile Road, while a semi-tractor trailer was traveling northbound on Garfield Road.
