METRO DETROIT — “The Price Is Right,” the long-running television game show, will be holding contestant auditions from noon to 4 p.m. Sept. 11 at Greektown Casino Hotel in Detroit.

The competition will be held in the hotel ballroom on the fifth floor. The contestant auditions will mark the end of a six-year period during which there were no searches for contestants in the Detroit area.

“So basically, we have the casting call event here in Detroit. … All people need to bring is their photo ID and their completed application. When they arrive, there will be a quick registration process. We’ll give everybody a number when they check in,” said Melissa Rowe, digital and sales marketing manager for CBS 62, which is running the event.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and legal U.S. residents.

After signing in, the contestants will go in front of a camera and have 30 seconds each to tell their stories about why they should be on “The Price Is Right.”

Although there isn’t any one piece of advice that will enable people to win a spot on the show, Rowe offered the classic advice to just “be yourself.”

After the auditions are done, the files will be sent to the producers in Los Angeles, where they will have the final say on the two contestants who will go to the actual show. From there, the two contestants will be flown to L.A. and will attend the taping; however, only one will be called up to be an actual contestant and have a “bidder’s spot.”

“A lot of people that have come out ... are really fun. It’s a great environment,” said Rowe.
