Suspect shot dead, resident wounded during Warren home invasion

WARREN — A suspect was fatally shot and a resident was transported to the hospital for treatment for a gunshot wound after an alleged early morning home invasion near Hoover and Common roads Aug. 9.

Warren Police Detective Sgt. Paul Houtos said the shooting occurred at around 2 a.m. on Blancke Drive.

“An armed intruder wearing a ski mask was shot by a resident of the house after a struggle,” Houtos said.

The resident reportedly suffered a gunshot wound during the struggle and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Detectives were working to identify the intruder as of press time last week. The resident was not identified, and the investigation remained ongoing and in its early stages at press time.
