Sterling police make arrest after finding gunshot victim

A suspect was arrested following the discovery of a deceased man who apparently had been shot, Sterling Heights police said.

Police reportedly went to the 38000 block of Mound Road at around 9:15 p.m. June 13 after getting tipped off about gunfire in the area. At the scene they reportedly discovered a dead white man in his 30s who appeared to have gunshot wounds. 

While police investigated the incident, they informed the public that there was “no imminent danger,” but they asked anyone with information to come forward.

At 10:30 a.m. June 14, police had an update, saying they had tracked down and arrested a suspect within hours of the original call. Police said more suspect information, including charges and bond, will be released after arraignment.

“The Sterling Heights Police Department takes pride in the safety within our community and we strive to keep Sterling Heights one of the safest cities in the nation,” Sgt. Aaron Susalla said in a prepared statement. “We will utilize all resources to maintain such safety standards.”
