Police are asking the public for assistance in locating a man wanted in connection with a recent shooting.

According to a news release from Acting Chief Nick Loussia, police were dispatched at around 1:45 p.m. Feb. 4 to a shooting inside the Advance Office Building, 23077 Greenfield Road.

The victim and other witnesses said that a suspect had removed a handgun from his pocket and shot at the victim, firing one round into the victim’s abdomen. The victim's injuries were not life-threatening, police said.

Loussia said in an email that police believe the suspect and the victim know each other.

“We believe that this was a targeted shooting as the result of some type of altercation between the victim and the suspect,” Loussia said in the email.

The suspect is described as a black man, 19-25 years old and around 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet tall.

At the time of the shooting he was wearing black Jordan tennis shoes, black Adidas pants with a white stripe on the side of both legs and a camouflage jacket.

Anyone with information on the suspect or his whereabouts is asked to call the Southfield Police Department at (248) 796-5373.
