ROSEVILLE — Roseville resident Mary Spear celebrated her 100th birthday Feb. 6 at the American House Senior Living Community.

Spear was born in Canada Feb. 6, 1919. She married Howard Spear in Detroit on June 17, 1939, and they had five children together. Spear’s family now includes 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

She said that the secret to a long life is staying active both mentally and physically. She enjoys spending time with family, reading, playing cards and games, and working crossword puzzles.
