An armed suspect robbed a Speedway Gas Station in the 20000 block of 13 Mile Road May 7.

No injuries were reported.

According to a press release from the Roseville Police Department, the suspect entered the store at approximately 8 a.m., at which time security camera footage reportedly caught him wandering around for a few minutes; police believe he was checking the location of cigarettes within the store.

The suspect then allegedly sneaked into a storeroom and tried to use boxes and a ladder to conceal his presence while loading cartons of cigarettes into a plastic bag.

An employee interrupted the suspect when the employee entered the storeroom, at which time the suspect allegedly displayed his handgun and ordered the employee to place cigarettes in a bag. A second employee entered shortly afterward and the suspect allegedly ordered the second employee to put cigarettes into another bag.

The second victim complied for a time before pushing past the suspect and yelling “gun” to the rest of the Speedway, the press release said, which prompted the suspect allegedly to grab one of the bags of cigarettes and flee the store.

The suspect was last seen heading northbound across the parking lot on foot carrying a black plastic garbage bag full of Newport 100s cigarettes.

The suspect was described as an approximately 35-year-old black man who stood approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighed 140 pounds. He was described as wearing a black knit cap, a gray hoodie and gray sweat pants.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Police Department at (586) 447-4508.
