ROSEVILLE/EASTPOINTE — The Recreation Authority of Roseville and Eastpointe will host its Spooktacular Trick or Treat Trail from 6 to 7 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, 27325 Barkman St. in Roseville.

In the event of rain, the event will move to the authority building at 18185 Sycamore St. in Roseville.

The family-friendly event will feature more than 30 local businesses, city departments, service clubs and supporters passing out candy to all registered participants.

Tickets must be purchased in advance for children ages 18 months to 12 years old.

Authority Assistant Director Bobbie Wilson said this event gets a big response from the community.

“We have 500 children at the park with their family, and they are trick-or-treating through the park. This is our biggest response from the community in terms of wanting to help us put the event on, because the different groups provide their own candy, purchase decorations and staff for the trail,” said Wilson.

While the event is targeted toward the Roseville and Eastpointe community, Wilson said neighboring cities are welcome to join.

“I don’t exclude anyone out of the area; if we have groups from other cities as well, they can come,” she said.

“This is a safe alternative for kids to get a bag of candy and go trick-or-treating for Halloween,” she added.

Wilson encourages attendees to dress up and to arrive early. Wilson also mentioned that families could capture the moment at the end of the trail.

“People usually start lining up around 5:15 p.m., and we don’t start the trail until 6 o’clock. So we are going to have hot chocolate for everybody. At the end of the trail, there will be a background where families can take their picture in front of (it),” said Wilson.

Tickets must be purchased in advance at the authority. Tickets for authority members (Roseville and Eastpointe residents) cost $3; the price is $5 for nonmembers.
