Michigan State Police said vehicles were struck by projectiles — not bullets or road debris —  on southbound Interstate 75, between Rochester Road in Troy and near the Davison Freeway in Detroit, the afternoon of Feb. 18.

Michigan State Police Lt. Michael Shaw said via email that between 3 and 3:30 p.m. Feb. 18,  four drivers reported that their vehicles had been “struck with some type of projectile.”

“Every victim was traveling southbound Interstate 75, between Rochester Road and (the) Davison Freeway. We have ruled out road debris and bullets. We are leaning towards some type of pellet from a gun or possibly a slingshot. We have handled three of the cases, and the fourth driver went to Troy Police Department. There were no injuries.”

Troy police Capt. Bob Redmond said a man reported to Troy police that the back window of his vehicle was shot out with an unknown object on Interstate 75 near Rochester Road Feb. 18. The time of the incident was not available. Redmond said the Michigan State Police are handling the investigation.
