WARREN — Where’s the beef?

Warren police are looking for the hamburglars who took 33 cases of Whopper patties from a semi-truck trailer parked at a warehouse on Ryan south of 10 Mile Road sometime overnight between March 25 and March 26, while the driver waited to make a delivery.

“It was cargo stolen from a trailer. Somebody broke into it,” said Detective Sgt. Stephen Mills of the Warren Police Department. “Several parties had access to the lock.”

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — A 31-year-old Detroit man is expected to spend the rest of his life behind bars for his role in a fatal 2015 party store shooting.

On Feb. 26, a Macomb County Circuit Court jury found Albert McKinley IV guilty of first-degree felony murder, felony armed robbery and felony conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said the Enforcement Grant funded by the Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning (OHSP) has allowed him to increase local patrols, something that is vital during this time of year.

WARREN — The man accused of firing 15 shots that wounded two people at a family gathering near Eight Mile and Groesbeck on Feb. 21 has been arrested and charged with murder for a separate incident in the city of Detroit.

The 25-year-old suspect, a resident of Macomb Township, remained held in the Wayne County Jail at press time and had not yet been arraigned in Warren.

HARRISON TOWNSHIP — A Chesterfield Township woman was charged with operating while intoxicated second offense and operating while intoxicated causing death hours after her passenger died following a single-vehicle crash early in the morning hours March 24 on Interstate 94.

Ceara Amme Abbott, 20, was allegedly behind the wheel of a 2001 Ford F-150 when officials from the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office said a physical fight erupted between her two female passengers.

MOUNT CLEMENS — A settlement was reached March 3 in a lawsuit between an Eastpointe woman sentenced to jail time after allegedly being unable to pay her court fines, and the 38th District Court and Judge Carl Gerds.

Under the settlement, both sides agree that the standing statewide judicial practice of jailing defendants who do not pay their court fines and fees — without first checking to make sure the defendants can actually pay — should be ended.

A Sterling Heights man has been arraigned in 38th District Court following an alleged abduction attempt March 22.

Mile Marinkovski, 65, was arraigned March 24 and charged with one count of enticing a minor for immoral purposes, a felony. A preliminary examination was scheduled for April 12, and a not guilty plea was entered on Marinkovski’s behalf.

Marinkovski requested a court-appointed attorney, but one had not been named as of press time.

ROYAL OAK — Police, following a foot chase and with assistance from neighboring departments, arrested two men in the middle of the night March 15 for breaking into vehicles.

Keon Malik Mitchell, 17, of Detroit, was charged with two counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, a felony punishable by five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine; and one count of assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer, a felony punishable by two years in prison and/or a $2,000 fine.

HARPER WOODS — Police officials say, based on preliminary statistics, that serious crimes in Harper Woods have decreased for the 10th consecutive year.

Serious crimes, as defined by the Harper Woods Police Department, constitute homicide, robbery, home invasions and assault, to name a few.

Deputy Chief John Vorgitch said the continued drop can be attributed to proactive patrolling by the officers and detectives while they’re out in the community.

METRO DETROIT — Three metro Detroit doctors and seven other individuals have been indicted on charges of conspiracy to illegally distribute prescription drugs.  

The three doctors charged are 50-year-old Dr. Boris Zigmond, of West Bloomfield; 39-year-old Dr. Jennifer Franklin, of Harrison Township; and 78-year-old Dr. Carlos Godoy, of Farmington Hills.

MACOMB TOWNSHIP — A 19-year-old Macomb Township man is still being reported as missing after he was last seen leaving his residence March 10.

The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office reported that Stephen Christopher McAfee left his residence around 2:30 a.m. that day. Attempts to locate him through his cellphone have been unsuccessful.

McAfee is 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighs about 140 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.

On March 22, Macomb County Circuit Court Judge James Biernat Jr. sentenced a 37-year-old Ann Arbor man to 24-480 months in prison for fleeing police.

On Feb. 16, Dennis Paquette pleaded guilty to a charge of second-degree fleeing a police officer in connection to an incident that occurred Jan. 19 in Shelby Township.

At approximately 4:45 p.m. Jan. 19, a Shelby Township police officer attempted to stop Paquette on Hall Road, east of Schoenherr Road, for driving a blue Buick without a license plate.

WARREN — Warren police are investigating at least four break-ins at local car washes, potentially tied to a spate of similar thefts reported across southern Macomb County over the weekend between March 19 and March 20.

Detective Sgt. Stephen Mills of the Warren Police Department said the first break-in was reported at the Super Car Wash on Dequindre south of 14 Mile Road shortly after midnight on March 19. The thieves allegedly entered the building by kicking out a window of the overhead garage door on the east side of the building, but reportedly took nothing.
