Police seek suspect in gas station robbery

ST. CLAIR SHORES — St. Clair Shores police are looking for a man in connection with an armed robbery of Speedway, 207011 11 Mile Road.

Police officers were sent to the gas station at 3:05 a.m. Jan. 19 for a report of an armed robbery in progress, according to a press release from St. Clair Shores police. The suspect fled the scene before police arrived.

According to the release, the clerk said she was cleaning up a spill in the store when a Black male with a bandana on his face came in and asked to purchase cigarettes. When the clerk turned her back to the suspect and walked toward the cigarette display, the man grabbed her arm, pulled out a firearm and physically escorted her to the cash register. He had her open it and was able to get an undisclosed amount of cash before leaving the store.

Police said the clerk was not injured.

St. Clair Shores police were still investigating the crime at press time and are asking anyone with any information to call the Detective Bureau at (586) 445-5305.
