CLINTON TOWNSHIP — At press time, a man and woman were being investigated after both were simultaneously injured from the same bullet.

Clinton Township Police Capt. Richard Maierle said that at about 11:20 a.m. May 13, officers received a call about gunshots going off in a residence at Oxford Square Townhomes on Lipke Street, south of 15 Mile Road and east of Gratiot Avenue.

Maierle said a man and a woman in a domestic relationship were reportedly having an argument, when the woman allegedly pulled out a weapon.

“She pulls out her handgun, which she has a CPL for,” Maierle said. “They start tussling for the gun and she shoots both of them.”

The bullet hit the man in one of his arms, and hit the woman in the neck. The captain said both individuals were “conscious and alert” when police arrived. They were both taken to a local hospital.

The man was released from the hospital with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries. The woman remained hospitalized at press time.

Police were unsure whether the couple lived together. At press time, no one was in custody and the incident was still under investigation.
