Deputies from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office’s Oakland Township substation responded to the 100 block of Cherry Drive on a report of shots being fired from a moving vehicle at a residence at 12:34 a.m July 26.

The caller reported he had been driving west on Cherry Drive when he observed a vehicle that had its headlights turned off driving east and heard six or seven shots being fired from the vehicle.

Upon arrival, deputies located several 9 mm shell casings near the area of the reported shooting, but they said the occupied residence that had been fired upon was not struck by bullets.

A neighbor reported seeing a gold Saturn Ion leaving the scene at a high rate of speed, although deputies said it is not known if the vehicle was involved. The area was checked without results. The incident remains under investigation.
