Sterling Heights police are looking for a man who reportedly shot at another vehicle along Mound Road in Sterling Heights Jan. 29.

At around 8:25 a.m., two vehicles were traveling southbound on Mound Road, north of 15 Mile Road. The driver  of a white Chevrolet Impala LS reportedly stopped and got out of her car to kick the other vehicle, police said.

Police said she was wearing a dark-colored jacket, red pants and red shoes at the time. Sterling Heights Police Lt. Mario Bastianelli did not specify what triggered the reported act beyond “driving.”

When the two vehicles continued moving southbound, a male passenger in the Impala reportedly pointed a gun at the other vehicle and fired, thrice hitting the vehicle’s body, according to the report. Bastianelli said the firearm involved was a handgun with unknown-caliber bullets.

After the gunshots, the two vehicles went northbound on Mound before heading westward onto Metropolitan Parkway, police said. Bastianelli said the targeted vehicle only had a driver inside it; police didn’t report any injuries.

Police said they have a photo of the driver but not the passenger who allegedly fired the gun. Officers are still investigating and have not apprehended any suspects at press time.
