Officer in critical condition after being hit by car near Adams High

ROCHESTER HILLS — At press time, a police officer was in critical condition after he was hit by a car at 7:40 a.m. Jan. 4 on Tienken Road, in front of Rochester Adams High School.

According to a police report, the 50-year-old Oakland County Sheriff’s Office deputy was investigating a car crash on Tienken Road when a second crash occurred. While the officer was investigating the second crash, a passing car struck him.

The deputy, David Hack, was transported to Ascension Crittenton Hospital in Rochester Hills and was in critical condition in the hospital’s intensive care unit at press time.

Hack, a 17-year Oakland County Sheriff’s Office veteran, is the school liaison officer for Rochester Adams.

According to police, a 24-year-old Oakland University student was driving the 2005 Ford Taurus that struck Hack. The student, an Oakland Township resident, was traveling to OU at the time of the accident, the report states. The investigation continued at press time.
