Narcotics sting nets arrests in Southfield, Detroit, Taylor

SOUTHFIELD — Police arrested three men during a recent narcotics sting.

According to a news release from Lt. Michael Shaw, of the Michigan State Police, the arrests were made June 19 by the MSP Downriver Area Narcotics Organization following a months-long investigation.

Shaw said in the release that police were investigating the flow of heroin and other illegal narcotics into downriver communities in Wayne County.

Police said four search warrants were executed by DRANO officers in the cities of Southfield, Taylor and Detroit.

Three suspects were arrested: a 43-year-old man from Taylor, a 43-year-old Southfield man and a 43-year-old man from Detroit.

Shaw said that around 3.3 pounds of cocaine and 3/4 of a pound of heroin/fentanyl were seized, along with two AR-15 rifles, three pistols and $72,655 in cash.

DRANO is a multijurisdictional narcotics task force comprising officers from the Michigan State Police, the Taylor Police Department, the Melvindale Police Department, the Southgate Police Department, the Allen Park Police Department and the Ecorse Police Department, Shaw said in the release.
