One man is dead following a Jan. 10 crash in Macomb Township.

At approximately 6:30 a.m, deputies from the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of 25 Mile and Foss roads for a crash.

“Deputies arrived to find a single vehicle resting against a tree with one occupant,” a news release states.

The occupant was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

The deceased driver was identified by police as George Micakovich, 65, of Chesterfield Township. Micakovich was the lone occupant of a gray Chevrolet Trax traveling north on Foss Road.

“Foss Road comes to an end upon reaching 25 Mile Road,” the release indicates. “It does not appear that the vehicle made any attempt to stop upon coming to this end and crashed into a tree at 25 Mile Road.”

Police say it does not appear that Micakovich was wearing a seatbelt, and alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor.

The roadways are now open.
