Man struck and killed by vehicle in Warren

WARREN — A 20-year-old Eastpointe man was pronounced dead at the hospital at about 7 p.m. Jan. 13, an hour after he was struck by a vehicle on Van Dyke Avenue at Cadillac Avenue, just south of Nine Mile Road.

“The vehicle that struck the pedestrian apparently was driving north on Van Dyke. A witness indicated the victim just ran out into the road,” said Detective Sgt. Robert Eidt of the Warren Police Department. “The vehicle wasn’t able to stop.”

The man was reportedly struck by a white, 2017 Chevy Equinox driven by a 32-year-old Roseville woman. The man was transported to a hospital by the Warren Fire Department, where he was later pronounced dead.

“The investigation is ongoing. We do not believe that speed was a factor or that alcohol was involved,” Eidt said.

The victim was not immediately identified.
